You’ve probably heard about the 21-year-old woman using the pseudonym Jasmine Tridevil.
Tridevil claims she has had a third breast surgically attached to her chest for $20,000 in hopes that she will land a show on MTV. Tridevil’s story, hoax or not, has reached practically every corner of the Internet.
But if you think her story is weird now, get ready. It’s about to get even weirder.
In return, Hessler declined to press formal charges. Tampa police said that Hessler stopped returning their calls after news of the event spread.
Hessler’s current claim, that she has had a third breast implanted, has placed her in the spotlight once again. In a Sept. 16 radio interview, she told Real Radio 104.1 that the third breast was surgically attached “a few months ago.”
According to Hessler, 50 to 60 doctors turned her away before she found one who would go through with the surgery. Because the procedure was seen as an ethical violation, she said, her surgeon made her sign a non-disclosure agreement.
She claims that she funded the $20,000 procedure with money earned as a licensed massage therapist. Her business, “Alisha’s Golden Touch,” has profiles on Angie’e List and Yelp.
Multiple plastic surgeons have now cast doubt on Hessler’s claims.
“[I] believe 100% that this is a hoax that everyone is falling for,” Matthew Shulman, a board-certified plastic surgeon in New York City, told The Daily Dot. Schulman went on to say that the surgery, while theoretically possible, would take months — more than six — and would likely result in the three breasts being connected, which is not the case in Hessler’s photographs.
In a Facebook post on Sept. 17, Tridevil claimed that she had upcoming interviews with Inside Edition and Jimmy Kimmel Live. Mashable reached out to spokespeople at both shows, and each denied that they had interviewed Hessler or had a future interview scheduled with her.
Most damning in Hessler’s story is an incident report from Tampa International Airport, obtained by WTSP 10 News in Tampa. The report, filed by Hessler after her baggage was stolen, contains a list of the items she had lost. One of the items: a “three breast prosthesis.”
Hessler obviously wouldn’t have made it very far in the MTV vetting process, so the reason behind her hoax is still a mystery.
Hessler has not responded to our requests for an interview.
